Introduction to Setting Up a Development Environment
Monday, November 2nd 6:30-8:30pm
Have you started learning programming, but found yourself confused by your setup? Do you get hung up on installing packages and tools? Do you scratch your head when you hear the term “virtual environment”?
This workshop for beginning and intermediate programmers will cover the basics of setting up a programming environment. Students will learn how to utilize basic shell commands, select an appropriate editor, configure virtual environments, and use interpreters and compilers. Students will also make first steps with bash and version control with Git. No prior technical knowledge is assumed, though bringing your own laptop is recommended.
This workshop will be hosted by Patrick Smyth and Hannah Aizenman.
